About Nike
Nike was founded in 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports and originally operated as a reseller for the Japanese company Onitsuka Tiger - now known as ASICS. Although it was created by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight, it was Jeff Johnson who inspired the name Nike, after the Greek statue, "The Victory of Samothrace". The first shoe was created in 1974 and was a "Nike Waffle Trainer" and after a few years the baton was passed to the successful "Nike Swoosh" collection. In the 1980s, Nike had a huge success with the Air Jordan shoe line, partnering with basketball legend Michael Jordan. Today, Nike is one of the world's leading global leaders in sports apparel and footwear, known for the innovation, technology and style of its products. In 1988, the company debuted a powerful campaign, the "Just Do It" series, launching the company to the top of the sportswear world where it has remained forever! To this day Nike remains one of the No1 top Brands in sports and beyond!
